The possibilities were so great in casting two of the greatest actors of our time, and even they couldn’t give the film a soulThe writing and soundtrack were completely forgettable, despite Pugh and Garfield doing a great job with what was available to themThe back-and-forth made for an incomplete emotional journey because there was no build-up or stakes to be invested in
